My Latest Shopping Haul!

I haven't written a blog post for just over two weeks so sorry about that, but now I'm back to show you what I've been buying lately! I have been so busy with an exam, work and I also went to London to visit my friend last weekend - where I got the majority of my items below! I seemed to lose my blogging mojo temporarily along the way but I've got lots of ideas of what I want to post over the next few weeks and I'm also in the middle of having a brand new blog design -yay!

One of new favourite tops is the floral dip hem sleeveless top from Primark - it was £12.00 and is great to wear with leggings. I got this dark red peplum top from George at Asda as it was such a bargain at just £6.00 full price! In Primark, I also treated myself to this sleeveless Aztec print denim shirt.

Here's what I bought in New Look's sale. Despite already buying what I have bought lately, I couldn't resist grabbing a bargain! I have used images from New Look's website as I have only just ordered these so haven't received them yet. I got this Misumi Neon Coral Dragonfly oversized tshirt, which was reduced from £14.99 down to £7.00. The dress in the middle was such a bargain, I thought there was no way they would have my size! Luckily they did as its such a gorgeous dress by 18 and east and was reduced from £27.99 down to just £12.00 so I'm happy with that! I also got this Denim Look button skirt for only £8.00.

How gorgeous are these two day dresses I found in Primark! I can't believe how much of a bargain they were at just £5 each, so I decided to get the two colours as it was so cheap! The yellow one is my favourite and I think I would team it with the daisy floral headband (below) which I also found in Primark for just £1.50. My mum treated me to these pretty floral flip flops from F&F at Tesco for just £10.

I've loved this River Island Chelsea Girl cami dress ever since I included it in my 'Sightseeing in Paris' entry for Money Supermarket's World Wide Wardrobe entry. It cost £25.00, so at first I put it off for a while (me being a bargain lover), hoping for it to pop up in the sale sometime soon! That didn't happen but luckily ASOS then stocked it with free delivery so I grabbed my chance! It's such a pretty dress for summer and I cant wait to have a chance to wear it!

I bought these gorgeous cushions in - yes you guessed it, Primark! I've been after an owl cushion for so long and now I've finally found a pretty pink one which was just £6.00. I also found this pretty floral 'Love' cushion which was of course a bargain at just £4.00.

These two canvas photos were joined together when I bought them and were advertised as just £4.00 for the two, but when I got to the tills they were only £1.00 each! I didn't realise they weren't actually joined together so will just be putting them next to each other! I mainly got these as the one on the right reminds me so much of my hamster - although I do wonder if the one in the picture is a gerbil??

Lastly we have my latest beauty buys! I was in need of a moisturiser, and Garnier's Moisture Match was on sale for just £2.99 in Superdrug so I chose the 'wake me up' gel as I enjoyed using the sample. I also bought Clean and Clear's daily facial scrub and skin brightening moisturiser as they were two for £6.00. I've been looking for these two new Garnier hair products since I saw them advertised in a magazine (the power of marketing!) and managed to find them in Asda and I'm hoping they actually work!

I hope you enjoyed my latest haul! x

Guest Post: 10 Minute Summer Makeup Look

Hello, lovelies! Summer is here and we're all looking for a new go-to look for everyday wear. This is mine, I hope you like it! :)

Start off by applying your concealer and foundation. I used my NARS stick concealer in Armande and my MAC Pro Longwear foundation in NW 50.

After that, apply bronzer to the sides of your forehead, the hollows of your cheeks, and beneath your jawline to contour the face and give a bronzed, glowy look. Apply a red-toned blush to the cheeks to enhance this glow and to give your face some colour so it doesn't look too flat. I used Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in 08 Ebony and NARS blush in Taos.

Next, take a bronze cream eye shadow and apply it from your lid to your crease. I used MAC paint pot in Constructivist.

Now, take any matte black eyeshadow (I used MAC eyeshadow in Carbon) and apply this to the outer corner and crease. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend this out so that it creates a subtle contrast without looking too dramatic.

Apply eyeliner and mascara. I used NYX eyeliner in black and Benefit's They're Real! Mascara. Then apply a bright color to the lips to balance out the neutrality of the eyes. I used my Revlon Colorburst lip gloss in 010 Hot Pink.

Now you're finished! This creates a nice summery glow that's perfect for days out with friends or afternoons at the beach. The best part is that thanks to the longwear foundation we used, this will last all day and not come off when you sweat. Hope you enjoyed this look, I will be posting more tutorials like this on my blog, beautymadesimple.net!

Guest Post: Nail Art by Lorilee

Nail art seems to be big business at the moment, with lots of different brands having a wide selection of colours at really really affordable prices, for example Barry M, Topshop, Essie and Revlon to name a few. Here is my Barry M collection.

I have seen lots of different ways to get cool designs on your nails recently. I first experienced nail art as a teenager with nail transfers that you would scratch from a piece of plastic onto your nails and finish off with a top coat or as it was known then clear nail polish. I recently visited the Ideal Home Show and saw that nail art was making a come back and those transfers had gone from plastic to metal, with a slight twist. The nail board below is very similar to the nail board I saw at the ideal home show for £60.

The nail board that I used to get the stamps on my nails. I paid £15 for mine from this store on Amazon

You paint your nail polish onto the metal design you require, get your scraper

scrape it off. I bought my stamp and scraper separately from Poundland as I bought a small nail wheel from there.

Place the stamp on top of the nail design (making sure you do this before it dries, timing is key) then stamp it onto your nails and finish off with top coat.

My nails when I finished stamping

That is one way of getting cool designs on your nails. Another way is to do a marble effect with a selection of colours. I discovered this through my endless hours of watching YouTube. This is the video I used to start me off as I wasn't sure if I was to use boiling, warm or cold water.

To do marble nails you will need
1. A choice of at least 3 nail colours
2. A yogurt pot or some tub
3. Some cotton buds
4. Base coat
5. Nail polish remover
6. Top coat

Start with getting some luke warm water in your chosen pot.

Then drop the first nail colour of your choice on the surface of the water.

Repeat this until you think you have enough colours in the water.

Paint a base coat on your nails and let it dry.

Then dip one finger at a time in the water.

Do not pull your finger out straight away or you'll end up in a mess.

Use the cotton bud to pull away the rest of the nail polish in the water by twirling it around.

Then remove your nails from the water.

And you are left with a beautiful design on your nails.

Which nail polish art is your favourite?

Models Own Instant Nail Art

These instant nail art transfers are made by Models Own and are part of their collaboration with London nail salon WAH.

This is the first time I've been impressed by instant nail art 'stickers'. I've always thought they look gorgeous and there are always so many choices, but I've never had a good experience with them - until now that is! The only instant nail art I've tried before was off eBay. They look good in the pictures, but the quality is nowhere near what Models Own offer. By buying off ebay you are saving at least 1/3 of the price, but you may not be getting the best quality. Obviously, this is just me speaking from my experience and I cant generalise that to all nail art from ebay! Nail art is not usually something I would spend my money on as I prefer to stock up on nail varnishes instead. I spotted these gorgeous floral nail stickers in the clearance section of Boots, so I got them straight away. They were reduced from £6.99 to £1.99 and I definitely good a good bargain there.

The pack includes 20 stickers and a nail buffer. 20 stickers is for most people; two applications. However, if you're a bit clumsy when it comes to your nails like I am, I just used the rest for spares. I was really impressed with how easy the stickers were to apply. All you have to do is simply press them down onto the nails, fold the excess and file the stickers down to fit your nail size. The instructions advise that you apply a top coat onto the stickers after you finish applying to keep the stickers in place and last longer. I didn't have a top coat at the time, so I just hoped for the best. I have worn these now for four days so far and they are still going strong. I have had to reapply once or twice using the spares as they do chip slightly (as expected with anything you have on your nails) but they're still going strong and I'm really pleased with them!

Have you tried any nail stickers? x

Disney Traditions Minnie Mouse Le Vie en Rose

"Combining the magic of Disney with the artistry of Heartwood Creek, classic Disney characters and stories are distinctively translated into figural form. This unique blend of Disney enchantment and Americana folk-art offers you the opportunity to display the magic of Disney motion pictures."

I wanted to show you the cutest Disney Figurine I have just bought! A local Clinton Cards shop had just opened back up locally and I was looking for ages through all the Disney collection. The designs are created by Jim Shore 'Disney Traditions'. There were so many different types to choose from ranging from Beauty and the Beast to the Mad Hatter. Lately I seem to have developed a slight obsession with Minnie Mouse e.g. pyjamas, anything I can get my hands on! Am I too old for that?! (Please say no). So, anyway as soon as I saw this gorgeous Minnie Mouse figurine, it was mine straight away! The figurines are hand painted and you can see how much time and effort has gone into the creating of it, making it that bit more special. Soon, I'll be moving into the bigger bedroom in my house so I'm keeping her safe until I can put her on display proudly! My sister is moving out, so I bought her an Eeyore figurine to take to her new home and as a little goodbye present! You should definitely check out these figurines if you're a Disney lover - be warned as you may end up wanting the whole collection! The Minnie Mouse ornament cost £25.00, with measurements of '6.5in H x 2.625in W x 3.25in L'. The Disney range is absolutely gorgeous and I'm contemplating which one to treat myself to next! It would make a perfect gift for a Disney lover or even if you just treat yourself!

Would you buy a Disney ornament? x

Why I Blog

I decided to start up my own blog after months of reading other blogs. I enjoyed taking a look into other people's lives and reading all about what they enjoyed doing, what fashion and beauty products they loved - it's a perfect excuse for me to have a good old nose. I have always enjoyed writing since I was young, so I thought to myself 'I could write my own blog' but instantly the negative thoughts came - Why would anyone want to read about me? Would anybody even read it at all? My sister encouraged me to start my own blog eventually. One lazy Saturday, I set up Sweet Dreams. I decided to call my blog Sweet Dreams as I think it's a cute little message and also I am a huge lover of having a cosy lie-in! Straight away I was writing a long list of all things I wanted to write about and share with others.

I now class blogging as a hobby. I enjoy being able to think 'I could blog about that' or thinking of ideas for articles I would love to write in the hope I will put one on my blog one day - on a subject that I feel passionately about. It's a creative outlet for me as I am able to write about whatever I want - there are no rules to it. I can blog as many times as I like, or have days off when I just don't feel like it. I also feel that writing a blog has improved my self-confidence. It makes me feel so pleased when I get a nice comment from a fellow blogger on a post I have written, it encourages me to continue posting. Blogging also opened up new opportunities for me - after blogging for under a month I was lucky enough to be invited to a Benefit Beauty launch. I was left thinking - why on earth do they want me there?! I was glad I found the courage to attend the event as I didn't know anybody and I think this helped my confidence by proving to myself I could do it. I see my blog as an online diary. I never share much personal information, maybe as the months go on I will work on more personal posts as I think these are received well by other bloggers (I know I enjoy being nosey!). I can post inspirational quotes, images, things that make me happy. I try to keep my blog as positive as I can, if I am having a few down days then I don't feel the need to blog about this, I'll wait until I am feeling better and then share the good times with you.

So far, I have only had positive experiences in the blogging community. I always enjoy joining in the #bbloggers chat when I can. I have also found that lots of bloggers are willing to help you out when you need advice, all you have to do is ask! I will to continue to enjoy writing my blog. I feel I have things to improve on - I guess we all feel like that about our blogs. I would like to write more blog posts that I enjoy reading and I'm looking forward to doing so! If you are thinking of starting your own blog, I can only say to go for it! You have nothing to lose!

Why do you blog? (If you do?) x

A Day Trip to Gower, Swansea

On Thursday, it was my mum's birthday, so having booked the day off work, me, my mum and sister went on a little trip down the Gower, Swansea. We stopped off and had our lunch at Oxwich Bay Hotel, the food was gorgeous and did end up being worth the 40 minute wait! The sun was shining but it was a bit too windy outside so we sat indoors to eat. There was also a wedding happening at the hotel and we could have a little peek at the bride and groom having their photos taken outside. There were such lovely views throughout the car journey, so I took some pictures to share with you! I'll take the time  here to say sorry I haven't posted much lately! I have been busy at work and also have a psychology exam on Wednesday - let's not even talk about that one! I hope to be back to normal soon!

What have you been up to lately? x
