Maybelline Colour Show 'Metallic' Nail Stickers

I recently reviewed Model's Own floral nail stickers - you can read the post here. I will be considering the quality of the Model's Own nail art for this review. I bought these Maybelline Colour Show nail stickers in the clearance section of Boots (I love to have a nose through there, although my local store usually just has reduced baby products!). The nail art was reduced from around £7.99 down to £2.99, so I thought I would give them a try. There wasn't a large amount of variety to choose from but these metallic stickers were my favourite. After using nail stickers before and being surprised at how easy they were to apply, I tested these out as soon as I got home.

The first thing that I thought was silly was the fact that they give 18 stickers. I don't know about you, but I fail to see the point of having 18 stickers? Twenty, yes two applications if you're careful or keep the rest for spares. But with eighteen, it's just eight spare stickers rather than two applications which I feel definitely isn't worth the full price of £7.99. The package includes the stickers, a nail file and a cuticle stick.

  • Select a sticker that best fits each nail.
  • Lay the sticker over the bare nail and apply a little pressure over the entire surface of the nail using the cuticle stick.
  • Fold the spare top of sticker over nail tip and file away the extra length of sticker in a downward motion.
I think the best thing about the nail stickers are the easiness of application. As you can see from the above simple instructions, all you have to do is pop them on and flatten them onto your nail - I didn't use the cuticle stick, I just smoothed them on using my fingers. I absolutely love the pattern of the stickers, I thought it gave a high end look with the metallic design.

Onto the negative of the product: the longevity. The quality of the stickers are nowhere near as good as Model's Own and I was left feeling disappointed. Yes, the design looks lovely, but I would recommend using these for a special occasion - and don't expect it to last you through the week! As they are so easy to remove, they then become easy to fall off. Every now and then I would look down at my nails and realise I had a few missing! I did top these up using the spares but after a while I decided to give up and peel them all off. It did get quite irritating that they did not stay on for long - definitely not worth full price! I am glad I bought these in the sale as I was pleased with how they looked; but I wouldn't buy this brand of nail stickers again.
