How To Deal With Blogger Envy

Image - We Heart It.

After my previous post 'Are you a secret blogger?' received such a great response (thank you!), I thought I would write another blogging themed lifestyle post. Today's post is based on that dreading feeling - Blogger Envy. I guess this post will only be relevant if you are a blogger yourself, but if not it could be a good insight to a potential downside of blogging! I need to make it clear that I can't speak for other bloggers, these are just my opinions. I first started my blog In February this year after following my favourite blogs for a few months. After finally plucking up the courage to start my own blog, I feel like I've come on my own personal little journey with my blog and I really enjoy spending time working on my posts and of course keeping up to date with my fellow bloggers posts.

However, I must admit I have fallen into the nasty trap of blogger envy. It's so easy to look at a 'more successful' blog and to put yourself down. I've had days when I wonder why I even bother when there is so much competition out there - but that is not the point of blogging! It's not about competition, it's about being able to express yourself, make new friends and having your blog exactly the way you want it, it's all yours after all. I know how easy it is to look at another blog and instantly feel those pangs of jealousy. You may ask yourself questions such as - Why can't my design look that good? How do they get their photographs to look so professional? Why don't I look that gorgeous? How can they think of so much to write? - and all these feelings will instantly put a downer on you and your confidence. So, I thought that I would share with you how I feel I have been able to overcome these feelings and to start focusing on bettering my own blog, rather than beating it down with criticism!

The first thing to remember is that this blogger may have been blogging a lot longer than you and I. What is the point in wondering why your posts don't seem as good when that blogger has been posting regularly for a good few years? The blogger will have had more experience and most importantly; time. Time is really important when it comes to working on your blog. Not only do you spend a lot of time preparing and writing your posts, you're also considering other aspects such as photography and promoting your new posts. I think it's really important to realise that within time, your blog will just keep on improving. Slowly, you will learn new skills that will make you feel much more confidence in your blog. I have never done the following myself, but I do believe that a lot of bloggers have done this in their time and it's such a good idea. Contact the blogger that your are feeling envious of! Maybe send them a little tweet to say how much you enjoy their blog or send them a nice email asking if they have any tips on making your blog more successful and what has worked well for them. You may well find that they will be more than happy to help you and you'll both be feeling better too.

I also think it's important to remember that every single person on earth will doubt themselves. That means that your favourite blogger will have their own doubts, worries and concerns whether this be about their personal life or their blog. It's so easy to get caught up in damaging thoughts on other peoples lives such as wishing for their looks, lifestyle, jobs etc. It's not good for us to do this as it makes us forget what we have that is important and also remember that nobody is perfect. They may seem to have the perfect life but that doesn't mean they may not be battling their own personal struggles, so it's important to stop basing your expectations on how you see someone only showing the positives of their lives. Focus on improving your blog. Keep posting as often as you want, make new blogging friends and don't give up!

I'd love to know if you ever have feelings of  'Blogger Envy' x

BHS: Christmas Comes To Life!

A nice little Christmas post today to celebrate BHS' gorgeous range of Christmas gifts. Every year, as we slowly creep into November, I'm always popping in and out of BHS waiting patiently for the Christmas gifts to arrive. Thankfully, they've finally arrived at store and I could spend hours looking through all the gifts! There's so much to choose from, there is literally something for everyone - there's gifts for the foodies, beauty lovers (you and me), crafts, lingerie and nightwear and there's still plenty more. I adore the craft gift section, it's packed full of gorgeous little decorations and owls - my favourite! My all time favourite section of the BHS gifts has to be the Coca Cola gifts. I love the retro packaging and sadly I can't fill the kitchen with all the equipment as my mum wouldn't be too pleased! I guess I'll hang on until I move out and splash out until then! I'm literally planning to kit out my whole kitchen with the decorations when I have my own place - coasters, napkin and straw dispensers and an ice bucket - sounds like the perfect diner for me!

BHS' brand new advert shows all about the magic that happens when the Christmas gifts are left alone at night! I don't know about you, but part of me still wishes this existed. I always used to wish that when I was asleep at night, all my teddy bears and Barbie dolls would round each other up and have a little picnic in the middle of my bedroom - I promise I don't do it anymore! The advert is super festive and gives you a quick insight into all the gifts that are available! How cute is the little monkey and Mr Owl? It's like Toy Story all over again. You can see the full range of gifts here.

Lady Gaga - ARTPOP

A slightly different post from me today - my first ever music review. Please don't expect anything too fancy - I'm no music critic and this is basically just my thoughts! On to my favourite artist of all time - Lady Gaga. Not only do I love her music, but I love everything that she stands for, her fashion, her song writing and her positivity and love that she gives to her fans. I really appreciate that she knows she wouldn't be where she was if it wasn't for her fans and she acknowledges that at all times. I first saw Lady Gaga live when she was supporting The Pussycat Dolls (hard to imagine now, isn't it?) and I had no idea who she was! She shot to fame with the popular tracks 'Just Dance', 'Poker Face' and my all time favourite 'Papparazi'. I absolutely loved her first two albums, The Fame and The Fame Monster but when Born This Way was released, I wasn't too sure what to make of it. It was definitely a massive difference in the tracks and had quite a heavy metal theme to it, which isn't quite my thing!

So, when the release of ARTPOP finally arrived this month, I did wonder whether to buy it or not. Would I be disappointed? After a quick Christmas shopping trip, I decided to buy the album as I knew I wanted to give it a chance. I am glad I did as there is only two songs on there that I'm not too keen on - I think it's safe to say that Gaga's back with a bang. I've decided the best way to write my review is to do a little review with my thoughts on each song. The album has an energetic feel to it and I cant help singing along.

The album starts with 'Aura'. The start is pretty weird with Gaga laughing rather manically but it quickly kicks in as a really catchy pop song and is one of my favourites. Aura features in the film 'Machete Kills' and fans have speculated whether this could be the follow up to 'Telephone', which does seem pretty relevant when you hear the lyrics at the start of the song.

Venus - You may have heard this one on her latest X Factor performance, along with 'Do what you want'. I love this song, my favourite part being the chorus of 'When you touch me I die, just a little inside, I wonder if this could be love'. A great follow up from Aura and didn't disappoint for me.

G.U.Y - Another top track on the album. This is a pretty sexual one Gaga is singing about being the girl under you and the song picks up straight away. I don't think the lyrics aren't her finest work though as she sings 'love me, love me, please retweet'.

Sexx Dreams - I'm sure you can guess what this one is about! This song isn't one of my favourites and I can't quite figure out what to think about it. I love the intro but the chorus of the song doesn't do much for me and I think I could take it or leave it.

Jewels and Drugs - This is a collab with T.I and is utterly different from her usual tracks. It's a rap song, with T.I and Gaga rapping about their love for drugs - it's not a winner for me and I always skip past this one.

Manicure - Another one of my favourites! This song is ridiculously catchy and I absolutely love it. It's not about your typical manicure, it's about being 'man cured' after being addicted to love. I love that the song is unique and doesn't sounds like your everyday pop song.

Do What You Want - Again, I'm sure you've heard this one too! I'm still not too sure what to think about this one - I think Gaga has better potential than this song and I'm not personally too fussed on this one.

ARTPOP - The main inspiration of the album, the ARTPOP track. It's a dance track with slightly confusing lyrics - 'My artpop could mean anything.' I do enjoy listening to the song, but it doesn't stand out compared to the others.

Swine - This song is a massive hit for me, it's another dance track which I cant help singing along to. It's pretty strange - it's about acting like a swine - 'You're just a pig inside a human body', but this has to be another one of my favourites.

Donatella - This sounds like a catwalk theme song, I can just imagine supermodels strutting their stuff with Gaga singing this in the background. I love this one, it's a homage to Donatella and is a stand out track.

Fashion - Not to be confused with Gaga's earlier 'Fashion' track, which I personally prefer. It's a good follow up to Donatella, but I don't think its as good!

Mary Jane Holland - Another one of my favourites. I can imagine this would sound amazing live, it reminds me of Government Hooker, which I loved.

DOPE - This one is a skip for me. It's all about how she needs 'you more than dope', and I just cant find myself to warm to it.

Gypsy - Gaga sings about 'I don't wanna be alone forever, but I can be tonight'. It really showcases how strong her vocals are as she sings about being alone whilst being on tour. Yep, you guessed it - another favourite!

Applause - Rounding up the album is Applause. I love this one, it's so catchy as I'm sure you've heard already!

What's your favourite album? x

Amazon Beauty Bargains

Christmas is coming, whether you like it or not! I know I like it and I'm really looking forward to it! I've got almost all of my shopping done ready in case I am busy in work in the upcoming weeks to Christmas - I cant believe how busy the shops are already though! I went shopping on a weekday about two weeks back, expecting it to be quiet and the queues were ridiculous! Which brings me to today's post. Online shopping is just so much easier than trudging around the shops, hanging around patiently in the queues and fighting that lady for the last chocolate orange. (Ok, maybe not, but I do like my chocolate oranges). This week on Amazon, it's Black Friday Deals week. Ready for Christmas, loads of products are reduced in price. Look out for the 'Lightening Deals', these will disappear as quick as they arrive! There's lots of different categories, meaning you can pick up your presents for all of the family, and some products have a discount over 50% or more! Which then leads me to, the most important thing to buy - beauty products! I was really surprised at how many good quality and high end products Amazon are currently selling at such good prices. I will list all the prices and links below, but I'm majorly impressed with the Nails Inc diary! It's currently being sold for £42.00 on popular websites such as Feel Unique, but Amazon have got exactly the same product for just £29.00! I have put together a quick little wishlist of my favourite bargains I found, hopefully you will find something you love! Good luck with your Christmas shopping!

Collection 'Big Fake Ultimate' Mascara Review

Today's post is all about what I consider a potential dupe for Benefit's They're Real mascara. I am such a mascara addict, a girl can never have too many mascaras in her makeup bag as far as I'm concerned! I haven't used a Collection product for a long time, so when I saw their cosmetics stand in Asda, with almost everything on offer for under £4.00, I was over there in a flash! It can't just be me who spends way too much time in the beauty and toiletry aisle of the supermarkets can it?! I treated myself to a 'Mango Tango' lipstick (which I love), a trio of eye shadows and this mascara - Big Fake Ultimate. It may not sound the catchiest of names, I personally prefer the 'false lash effect' tagline it has underneath - that's me being super picky, isn't it?!

I was first attracted to the mascara as it promises bigger and bolder lashes along with the false lash effect. I was slightly apprehensive as to whether it would actually do as it promises, but seeing as it was on offer at around £3.99, I thought it was worth a go! I love the packaging, I think it looks really sleek and sophisticated with it's stand out red packaging and it certainly snuggles itself comfortably into my makeup bag. The first thing that I noticed when I first used was the mascara - it's slightly large. Ok, I think it's practically huge! This could definitely be seen as a problem to those who are used to thinner mascara brushes, but I did find it pretty easy to get used to and didn't end up with those pesky mascara smudges all over my eyelids. I consider this a much cheaper dupe for Benefit's They're Real, as it really did give a lot of length to my eyelashes. Without mascara, my eyelashes are barely visible, so the first time I used this mascara, I was really impressed with the results. It definitely made a difference to the length of my eyelashes and I enjoy using the mascara on a daily basis. However, I am afraid there is a down side to the product. This is that whenever I use it on my bottom lashes, it just doesn't work out for me. It does give good volume to the little lashes under my eyes but as the brush is so big it's pretty hard to apply without poking myself in the eye or smudging panda eyes all under my eyes. I also find that when I do use it on my bottom eyelashes, it will smudge underneath and leave me with annoying black dots under my eyes - which are extremely annoying when nobody tells you there's black under your eyes!

I find that the mascara works best for me, just using on my upper eyelashes as it does give such good length and added volume too. I would say this is perfect for extra length and the volume comes in as an extra benefit, I personally wouldn't say the volumising effect is the main selling point for the mascara. The mascara is available in three colours, Black, Brown and Ultra Brown. It's super affordable and retails at just £5.99. Collection cosmetics are available at Boots, Superdrug and supermarkets too, so if you're looking for a new mascara I would recommend this one! Superdrug are currently selling for £4.99 on a 3 for 2 offer.

Please accept my apologies as I know the image is not too great but it's the best I can find! I'm unsure if the lotion will be provided with a pump as this bottle does, so please be aware of this! I'm a Beauty Blogger - Get Me Out of Here!

It's rare that I write a tag post, but I was a little stuck on what to work on next, so I thought I would join in with a fun tag that has been whizzing around the blogosphere this week! Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past week, you'll know that 'I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!' has finally returned to our screens! They teased us long enough with those adverts didn't they?! It's a bit embarrassing how excited I get to watching it really, Ant and Dec make the show for me, I've only got to look at them and they'll crack me up each time! So, continuing my love of the jungle, I tagged myself to join in with a brand new tag created by Rochelle and Natasha. It was a great idea of theirs to come up with this tag - I'm a Beauty Blogger, Get Me Out of Here! and I'm looking forward to getting stuck in. The girls are also creating another two weeks worth of tags after this, so there's plenty more questions to come! Here goes week one!

1) You can only take ONE product into the jungle (aka your luxury item). What would you choose and why?
At first I thought to myself 'Ooh this is a tough one!'. I think I'd definitely take in my St Ives Microdermabrasion scrub! As it can be used daily, so I'd get plenty of use out of it and keep my skin looking healthy!

2) What would be your main pre jungle worry?
My biggest worry would be leaving the ones I love behind. Of course, I'd be back in no time but I find it hard being away from those who I am close to and I know it would be a struggle for me.

3) You only have five minutes to get ready before going into the jungle, what would be your quick beauty routine?
Eek, five minutes, is that all?! I'd tie my hair in a messy bun (Aiming for the Minnie Mouse hair bow look and failing) with hair left down to frame my face or I'd be looking bald! Makeup wise, I'd make sure I filled my brows in as it makes such a difference and I'd put two quick lines of black liquid eyeliner and a few coats of mascara! I'd quickly spray my deodorant and cover myself in my new favourite perfume, DKNY Golden Delicious Intense. I think I may as well leave the foundation behind!

4) Last year we saw Helen Flanagan wearing her hair in a top bun. What would be your signature hairstyle?
As I said above, it would be the same again for this one. I always put my hair in a messy bun and leave hair down to frame my face. I see so many girls with gorgeous looking buns and I'm just like 'How?!'. Mine never seems to go right!

5) For moral support, which female celebrity would you like to be in the jungle with you?
Ooh, good question! It would have to be Lady Gaga, can you imagine bonding in the jungle with her?! She would be so much fun, she'd join in all of the tasks without a doubt. I also think she seems really sweet and supportive so would make a really good friend in the wilderness! If I had to choose a non-celebrity, it would be a close call between my mum and my sister.

6) Everyone’s given a role in the camp. What lifestyle skill would you bring to the jungle?
That's another tough one! I hate cleaning so I'll skip that one! Can I be Mother Bear of the group, despite being young? I can tuck everyone into bed and make sure we are all safe!

7) What one thing about being a beauty blogger sometimes makes you want to scream ‘Get Me Out Of Here’?
I find it hard sometimes when I end up comparing my blog to more successful blogs. I know this is no good for me and I've got to stop though! It's so easy to compare your blog to others but I have to consider other factors such as how long they have been blogging. I turn this into a positive by just keeping motivated with my blog! We are all in the same boat and should support each other when we feel down about our blogs!

8) Challenge – This is a once in a life time opportunity. You’re up for a trial to face your fears or try something new, what would you choose to do and why?

Just being there in the jungle would be enough of a challenge for me! I absolutely hate being out of my comfort zone and this would certainly be far from it. It seems like such a massive learning curve, I think it would definitely grow my confidence a lot more and have a whole new experience.

If you enjoyed the tag - I TAG YOU! x

Beauty & Skincare Wishlist.

Beautysets - Beauty Wishlist
It's that time again when I put all my most wanted beauty products together and create my latest wish list! I haven't written a wish list post for a while now and I thought it was the perfect time. I'm on my best behaviour, trying to stop buying more products until I have used up what I have got! Although I can't explain how tempting it is when discount codes and sales come around not to start splashing the cash! So, instead of splashing out straight away, I'm thinking long and hard over whether I actually need it and if I can wait until I'm 100% sure that I want it! Without further ado, here's what I'm lusting after lately. It's a bit of a high end wish list to be honest, which is exactly why it's a wish list!

1) Clarins Vital Light Serum - £51.00
I recently tried a free sample of this serum and I absolutely love it. It's such a soothing serum and it literally left my skin looking glowing. (My skin and glowing are not words you ever hear in the same sentence). It aims to reduce dark circles, smooth fine lines and keeps skin fresh. As it's a Clarins products, I was expecting it to be the maximum of around £30.00, so imagine my shock when I saw Boots sell it for £59.00 and it's only a 30ml tube! Trust me to fall in love with an expensive product! Luckily I found it for slightly cheaper at £51.00, but I'm going to hang on for now as it's so pricey!

2) Prada L'Eau Candy - £30.00
This fragrance is another free magazine sample - they are proving to be dangerous for me! It's a mixture of warmth, brightness and florals. I find it ridiculously difficult to describe a perfume, so in a nutshell it smells beautifully fresh and floral! Seeing as it's Prada, I wasn't expecting it to be cheap, but 30ml is £30.00 which I didn't think was too bad for a designer brand.

3) L'Oreal Souffle D'or Shampoo & Conditioner - £11.00
L'Oreal are back with a new 'professionnel' shampoo and conditioner range - Souffle D'or. It sounds absolutely gorgeous. It's suited for fine to normal hair and includes argan and safflower oils to keep your hair super shiny. The packaging looks gorgeous and the shampoo even includes specks of glitter which won't leave residue in your hair. It sounds really luxurious but at £11.00 for the shampoo and £12.10 for the conditioner, I'm not rushing out to buy it just yet!

4) YSL Rouge per Couture Glossy Lip Stain - £22.50
How amazing is the packaging? I know it's naughty to lust after a product purely because it looks so good, but I am! The lip stain combines the texture and shine of a gloss but will stain the lips like a lipstick. I can imagine this would be pretty long lasting and would give a lovely glossy colour.

5) Bare Minerals Get Started Kit - £49.00
I was really good this week and managed to refrain from splashing out on this kit when Bare Minerals had a 12 hour flash sale. I'm on the hunt for a new foundation which may last longer and this promises to give a perfect complexion. Although I do wonder if it will give me the medium-full coverage that I wish for as it says you won't look as if you're wearing any makeup at all. I can't quite work out how you can have perfect looking skin but not look like you're covered in makeup?! Maybe that's just me! The kit is pretty pricey but includes two foundations, mineral veil, warmth face colour, flawless face brush, concealer brush, primer and a how to DVD.

So there we have it - my latest beauty lusts!

What are you lusting after? x

St Ives 'Daily Microdermabrasion' Facial Scrub

Here I am again, introducing you to my favourite new skincare product - St Ives Timeless Skin 'Daily Microdermabrasion' Facial Scrub - phew, what a mouthful! I've been on a mission lately to improve my skincare routine and this scrub has definitely helped me along the way. I hate that feeling I get when I notice my skin is looking dull and drab and it's definitely seen better days. I have to be honest and admit I'm always suspicious of exfoliators claims. Many claim to leave our skin positively glowing and gorgeously healthy, where as I can't say I've ever noticed this - until now!  As I mentioned, I was on the lookout for new and affordable products to help keep my skin in good condition as I know how important it is to have a good routine. So, I gave myself the excuse to go to Asda as the beauty products are usually cheaper in there than stores such as Boots and I treated myself to a few goodies. I picked up this St Ives scrub and also bought a Clearasil SuperFruits daily scrub and cleansing pads too. PS Please excuse the poor quality of the photo! I wrote this post on a whim tonight and it's ridiculously dark, so I will get a clearer one up soon!

Moving on to the scrub itself and how it works as a product! I was first impressed by the 'Daily Microdermabrasion' which caught my eye and gave me the impression of a high end product! The term 'microdermabrasion' reminded me of an expensive skin treatment and seeing as the scrub retails for just £4.99, I thought it was worth a try! The facial scrub is part of the 'Timeless Skin' range which aims to maintain a youthful appearance (I don't exactly need help in that area though, I look young enough as it is!). Daily Microdermabrasion is enriched with chamomile, Vitamin E and fine mineral crystals for 100% natural exfoliation. The scrub itself is super easy to use with simple instructions for use. All you need to do is splash your face with water, use a tiny amount of the product, lather it up and rinse off - simple! The formula itself feels like a cross between a gel wash and foam but it lathers up really well, meaning there's plenty of use in one tube. I haven't noticed a scent and it feels luxurious on the skin - it's certainly not a harsh exfoliant and I can feel it moisturising my skin too.

So, the most important part of any review - does it do what it promises? My answer to that is a big fat 'yes!'. I have been using the product at least four-five times a week for the past 3-4 weeks and have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin. Without makeup, my skin looks much more clearer and brighter and less dull and drab - which is exactly what I wanted! I'm also really pleased that this product is so affordable. The scrub retails at £4.99 for a 125ml tube, which I feel is good value as I explained you only have to use the smallest amount each time. I was fancying treating myself to a high end skincare product and I'm so glad I chose this instead, I will definitely be repurchasing!

What's your favourite exfoliator? x

Lush 'Santa Baby' Limited Edition Lip Scrub

I have wanted to try out a Lush lip scrub for a good few months now. I always suffer with sore lips, I used to have a bad habit of literally picking off the skin from my lips when I was really worried or stressed, so you can imagine what state my lips were in - not an attractive look! I still find myself doing this now when I'm stressed but luckily I've gone a long way and hardly do it anymore! My current lip care routine now includes Lush' Santa Baby  lip scrub and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lip balm and my lips are in better condition than ever. I haven't tried a lip scrub before so I was really looking forward to receiving my order!

As I'm sure you are aware, all of Lush' products are handmade and free from animal testing. Over the past few months, I have read many rave reviews on their lip scrubs and I've been wanting to try one out for myself. The only thing that was putting me off was paying £3.95 delivery charge on top of £5.95 for a lip scrub, which I thought was pretty pricey! I finally caved when I treated myself to a big bottle of Snow Fairy and thought it was the perfect time to indulge in a lip scrub. Seeing as we're now coming into the Christmas season, Lush' Limited Edition range is in full swing starting with Santa Baby's Lip Scrub.

Santa's Lip Scrub is a bright red mixture which tastes delicious on the lips. The scrub has ingredients of caster sugar, coconut oil and cherry and date extracts and tastes of fizzy cola sweets making it a delight to exfoliate your lips with and you can then lick up the leftovers - yum! It's the perfect product for Christmas pampering and also contains gorgeous little edible mini hearts! The lip scrub is a gentle exfoliant which aims to get rid of any dry skin and leaving your lips smooth and kissable - to keep Santa happy when Mrs Claus comes running with the mistletoe! I am really impressed with the product as I feel it really helps the condition of my lips. Sometimes I walk back and fore to work in the cold weather and without this product, I know that my lips would have been red and chapped by now. I don't tend to use the scrub everyday, usually when I just feel like my lips could do with a bit of pampering. I keep it by my bedside table so it's also a little reminder for me to continue looking after my lips. The only negative that I can find with the scrub is that it can be quite messy or if you're pretty fussy with germs, I guess you may not like having to 'dig in' to get the scrub out! Personally, it doesn't bother me enough for it to be a problem, but it can be irritating if I scoop out too much.

Santa Baby Lip Scrub retails at £5.50 for a 25g tub here. It may only sound like a small tub but trust me when I say there's plenty of product to go around. The scrub is filled right to the top of the tube and you only need a small amount each time you use it. I think this is going to last me a good few months, so taking that into consideration, I definitely feel its good value. There is also a Santa Baby Lip Tint available to keep your lips looking gorgeous.

Have you tried Santa Baby? x

Frugal Friday!

Meet Freebie Friday's sister - Frugal Friday! As I've mentioned before it can sometimes be hard to come across enough freebies to turn it into a full blog post. This week I have seen a lot of good voucher codes and sales, so I thought why not put them together and create Frugal Friday?! I am trying to be good at the moment, to stop buying unnecessary items, but when a good voucher code arises, I find it pretty hard to resist! I also think that with Christmas coming up, it's so helpful to use voucher codes and save yourself money - so that you've got spare cash left to treat yourself!

Poundland Bargains!

Welcome to another post all about my latest bargains! I could literally spend hours looking through all the pound shops and boot sales hunting for bargains you never know what you're going to find! This week, I went on my first Christmas shopping trip of the year. It's only two weeks into November and the town centre was ridiculously busy, the queue in Poundland was about ten minutes long - good job I was feeling patient or I would have given up, it was like Christmas Eve in there!

I always head straight to the beauty aisles (after trying to enter through the no entry part of the store, oops). I was really good and managed to stop myself from buying more shampoos, conditioners and shower gels which I do not need! I bought a Rimmel Glam Eyes HD palette which I am going to give my mum for Christmas. They are dark shades which I know she likes, and seeing as it was so cheap it leaves me more money to buy her some other treats too! Next, I finally managed to get my paws on an OPI nail varnish - yes that's right! I had read about them being sold in Poundland but hadn't seen any for myself but then I found 'Shatter' by OPI which can be used as a top coat over any nail colour. I only found the one otherwise I would have bought more! I also bought Rimmel's 'Wake Me Up' instant radiance shimmer touch in Radiant Rose. It's a small sized tube at 14ml, but this may be the original size I'm not too sure! I'm looking forward to trying this out as it promises to give me a healthy looking glow. Then I picked up some exfoliating gloves as my old pair have been scrubbed half to death so it was time for a new pair! It's so much easier to exfoliate using these. The last beauty product I bought was Along Came Betty's 'Big Headband' to keep my hair out of my face when doing my skincare regime and makeup, I think it will be handy.

Non beauty wise, I bought a Coca Cola money saving tin. Nothing too exciting I know, but I love the vintage Coca Cola signs so I thought this would look pretty in my room. I will of course attempt to save pennies in it too. I then found these really cute retro style postcards which were a bargain at 50p each. I'm not planning to actually use them as postcards but to find a nice spot in my bedroom for them to sit as I think they look really pretty. I've saved the best until last. A mini sparkly Christmas tree - yay! Yes, yes I know it's not quite December and all that jazz but seeing as it was only a pound I couldn't leave it there! It's so gorgeous and I can't believe how much of a bargain it was!

Have you bought any bargains lately? x

Pearlys 'Weekly Teeth Whitening Powder' & 'Daily Rinse' Review.

Before I start rambling on about the product, let me apologise for the quality of the photos, they're not the best I know! Apologies aside, let's get on the product review. A while ago now I received two products from a new teeth whitening company - Pearlys (Not to be confused with Pearl Drops!). The products I received were the 'Weekly Teeth Whitening Powder'* and 'Daily Teeth Whitening Rinse'*. Over the last 8 years Pearlys has grown to be the biggest provider of in-clinic and at-home teeth whitening. Pearlys have a rather famous fanbase with celebrities including Pixie Lott, JLS and TOWIE stars. I must admit the packaging doesn't exactly blow me away and I'm a sucker for a gorgeously packaged product! As you can see the products are simply packaged in a dark navy shade and aren't particularly eye catching. "Pearlys are really excited to introduce their fantastic new range of at-home whitening and maintenance products. Their product range is designed especially to be used at home to freshen, whiten and brighten, and it's the perfect way to help maintain your Pearlys smile if you've had a treatment, or to take your first steps towards a brighter smile!" Before I talk about the two products, I should perhaps talk a little about my gnashers. I always make sure I look after my teeth after wearing braces for around 3 years, I certainly don't fancy going back to that! I wouldn't say that my teeth are stained but they aren't exactly up to Simon Cowell's standard either they're somewhat of a happy medium!

First up is the weekly teeth whitening powder which acts as an exfoliant. If you hadn't already guessed by the title, this powder is to be used once or twice a week. The aim of the powder is to remove the build up of staining and placque from the surface of your teeth. I must be honest and admit when I first saw this I panicked slightly and thought it was going to leave me feeling a bit nauseous! (I'm a bit weird when it comes to toothpastes). Luckily though this wasn't the case at all! It's super simple to use, you just use it as a substitute to your everyday toothpaste. The pale blue powder brushes on easily and is comfortable to use. It doesn't feel any different to using a normal toothpaste as the powder does foam up well and it is a pleasant product to use. I feel that this gives me an instant brightening boost, leaves my mouth feeling very clean and overtime I do feel it has slightly improved the whiteness of my teeth. The image below of my teeth is my result after using the powder a handful of times, I think they are looking pretty white!

Next up is the Daily Rinse which acts as a teeth whitening mouthwash. Out of the two products, this was by far my favourite to use. I know that mouthwash is nothing too exciting for you to be reading about, but bare with me as this one does a pretty good job! I am fussy when it comes to using mouthwashes, I can't stand anything that tastes too strong and will usually make me feel nauseous! The Daily Rinse thankfully doesn't really taste of anything at all. This is to be used twice a day after your regular brushing and flossing routine to get rid of bad breath and to keep teeth looking as bright and white as possible. This promises to give you the breath of an angel - ok I know it's cheesy but it is true! It leaves my mouth feeling ridiculously clean and it's now a firm favourite in my routine!

Luckily the products are affordable. I am impressed with the results that Pearlys gave and if I could change one thing it would be the packaging! The Daily Teeth Whitening Powder can be bought here for £9.35 and you can buy Daily Rinse for £8.95 here. I do know this seems pricey for a mouthwash but it is definitely worth it if you fancy treating yourself and your teeth!

Do you use any teeth whitening products? x

Ted Baker Wash Bag & Cosmetic Case Dupes

For today's post it's just a quick one about a cosmetic case that I stumbled upon whilst spending an evening browsing stores online as usual. I love having a look through George at Asda's website as you can usually find a really great bargain, but you have to be quick as things sell out so quickly due to the great price! First of all I found this cerise pink cosmetic case and I instantly thought it was a brilliant dupe of the Ted Baker cosmetic cases - and a massive difference in price too! Now I do know that they are not exactly the same - Asda's have black 3D flowers and Ted's has the classic bow and signature, but I do still think it's a pretty good dupe! Asda's retails for a bargain at just £4.00 where as Ted Baker's will set you back around £25.00 (prices seem to vary on different sites!).

The second dupe that I found is the black flower toiletry bag which also reminded me of Ted Baker's gorgeous wash bags! Asda's will cost you just £5.00 where as Ted Baker's average price of a wash bag is around £25.00. Again, I know they're not an absolute dupe when you compare the pastel embellished flowers to the bow but I do think they are a really good bargain for the price you're paying! As the prices are so cheap, I thought they'd make a perfect Christmas gift if you're on a budget! They certainly don't look cheap or tatty and I'd be super happy to receive one as a present!

Do you think they're a pretty good dupe or do you prefer the 'real thing'? x

Beauty Christmas Decorations

So, Bonfire Night has been and gone, meaning its fully acceptable for us to get super excited about Christmas and start getting our lists ready! Remember going through the Argos catalogue choosing all the toys you wanted?! I'm also getting my presents for my family planned too, I love buying things I know they are going to appreciate and enjoy. I've stocked up on Disney princess wrapping paper too - why not?! The cold weather is setting in and its the perfect excuse for me to be snuggled up writing a blog post and catching up on this weeks TV shows.
Beautysets - Christmas Beauty
Nails Inc Christmas Cracker Collection -£25.08
Ciate Tree Trinkets - £30.00
Clarins Christmas Crackers - £39.00
EOS Lip Balm Bauble - £16.00
Lancôme In Love Christmas Cubes - £39.00

Today's post is just a little one to showcase the Christmas tree decorations and crackers - with a twist. Chances are you're a beauty lover just like me and I think little gifts like this are so sweet and a gorgeous twist to the usual Christmas gift sets you can buy in stores. Gone are the days of boring old Christmas crackers with a plastic toy inside -check out these crackers with some serious goodies inside! Nails Inc have six gorgeously packaged Black & White crackers with full sized nail varnishes inside and a fashion quote! The colours you will receive are: Kensington High Street, Trafalgar Crescent, Mayfair Mews, Baker Street, Mayfair Lane and Kings Road. A full size polish usually retails around £11.00, and the crackers are worth over £69 - the cheapest price I can find is £25.08, so that's pretty good going! Clarins are also offering six stunning crackers for £39.00, in which you will find miniature sized goodies such as Beauty Flash Balm and Hand & Nail treatment cream.

If Christmas crackers aren't really your thing, then how about these gorgeous Ciate Tree Trinkets, exclusive to Selfridges. You'll find six mini paint pots in shimmer colours wrapped up safely in a bauble! Lancôme 'In Love' Christmas Cubes would make a perfect gift for a friend or even yourself! You will find a full size Vernis in Love, mini Gloss in Love, mini Rouge in Love and mini Hypnôse Classic. If all those beauty goodies aren't quite enough for you then you can find a more simple beauty bauble - the EOS lip balm bauble. "This three-sphere lip balm gift set from EOS includes Pomegranate Raspberry, Sweet Mint and limited-edition flavour Vanilla Bean".

Are you getting excited for Christmas? x
