If I Wrote A Magazine ..

For today's post I thought I would do something a little different. Now, don't get me wrong as I absolutely love reading magazines. I can spend hours flicking through endless amounts of magazines, I subscribe to my favourites, I look forward to the new month as it means new issues and I hoard them too. It's just that sometimes I think about little things I would change if I wrote my own magazine. Obviously I'm not writing my own magazine (Who else wishes they were?!), this post is just a little fun and I'm not trying to be rude to any magazines as I love them. I'd love to know your thoughts on this post and what you would change if you were writing a magazine.

Fashion would be affordable. Ooh there's a pretty bag. Wait, the price tag says £1,450,  never mind! Obviously some may be able to afford to treat themselves to a bag this expensive and there's nothing wrong with that, but for those of us who prefer to spend under £50 on a handbag on the high street it's not an awful lot of use.

No airbrushing. Strong statement if you're trying to sell a magazine throughout the country but this would be my biggest rule. I can't be the only one who has looked at endless pictures of stunning models in magazines and then felt deflated at my own appearance. I think this would apply more to makeup advertising, which isn't exactly the magazines fault as they are just publishing it. How many times have we seen a mascara advert with eyelashes long enough to knock you out with, you buy the mascara and it's rubbish?

Tutorials would be simple. Maybe I just lack a little common sense but whenever I read some makeup and hair tutorials in magazines I'm always left feeling a bit baffled. 'Section this, twist this, fold that' - Say what? Since watching YouTube tutorials lately I have realised how much easier is it for me to visually learn rather than to read instructions. However, not everyone learns this ways so I would like written tutorials to be step by step and easily explained, none of this fancy business which I cant understand!

Strictly no woman bashing. We're supposed to be in this together, not sharpening our claws at every chance we get. How many times have we seen magazines shaming other women about their antics, bodies, careers etc?

What would you change if you wrote a magazine? x

How To Save Money On Beauty Products

I have decided that one of my New Years Resolutions is to stop wasting money on beauty products that I end up not liking and not using. By this I don't mean to stop buying pretty little makeup items and nail polishes because that's not going to happen. You have to treat yourself sometimes don't you?  I'm obviously no expert in saving (You need Martins Money Tips for that) but with this in mind, I thought I would put together a post on tips that I find useful when buying beauty products. The gorgeous image below is taken from We Heart It - I promise my New Years Resolutions is to improve my blog photos!

My biggest tip is to use discount codes when it comes to buying anything online, not just beauty products. It may seem common sense to some of us and some of us may never bother looking for discount codes at all but I think its the easiest way to save extra money. If there's a certain product you're after and it's slightly out of your price range, then look out for a discount code. Use websites such as My Voucher Codes and VoucherCloud who keep you updated with the latest discounts. You'll usually be able to find a discount of 10-20% off. I'd also recommend signing up to your favourite stores newsletters. They'll send you regular emails with their latest offers such as free delivery. Don't forget to always check other websites first to see if the product you're after is already selling cheaper elsewhere.

There a good few hidden gems out there which some may not realise when shopping for their makeup. Stores on the high street such as Poundland, Home Bargains, Savers and the supermarket Asda. Poundland is my first stop, there have been great beauty buys in there lately such as OPI, Rimmel, Calvin Klein and Stila just to name a good few! Always be careful that the products seem good to use (I have seen a few gloopy nail varnishes which I steered clear of) and you're good to go. I always get my tan from Home Bargains for just £2.99 - I'm so glad I converted from St Tropez to St Moriz! When it comes to online shopping, look out for discounted websites such as Fragrance Direct. They sell a load of goodies such as Essie polishes for just £1.99 and there's loads of popular brands such as Maybelline, Rimmel, Burts Bees and Too Faced. I do sometimes look out for beauty bargains on ebay but I know some people are wary of these being counterfeit. Due to this, I only tend to buy from smaller sellers who are just selling a few bits and bobs rather than a seller who has hundreds and hundreds of lipsticks for sale.

This is my main new years resolution - to think about what I am buying and why I'm buying it. Do I need yet another mascara? No of course not, but am I going to buy it anyway? There's a highly likely chance that I am! If there's a certain product you have seen advertised and think it looks great, before jumping straight in there and buying it have a quick research online. There will be plenty of reviews available to read to help you reach a final decision. It may stop you from being left disappointed from buying something in a shade that doesn't suit you for example.

Another great way to save on beauty products is to try them out for free first. I always use my trusty site Magic Freebies. Updated six days a week, it's packed full of free samples that you can get your hands on. You will also find free samples in your favourite magazines and of course I cant forget the popular freebies that magazines occasionally treat ourself to. Throughout this year, I have managed to get free products from top brands such as Eyeko, Nails Inc, Benefit, Orly all from magazines. Here's hoping 2014 will bring lots more freebies! You can also keep up to date with websites such as Latest Free Stuff. I also enter competitions when I get the chance as this is a great opportunity to try out new products. If you're strapped for time, look out for 'bigger' competitions such as Fabulous magazine occasionally give out 3,000 mascaras so your chances of winning are much higher.

Let's face it - there's a high chance we are going to treat our selves to some beauty goodies regardless of whether we need it or not. So the best way is to earn some money back when you're treating yourself. I'm sure you'll have heard of Boots Advantage Cards (collecting 4 points per £1 you spend), which is great for having money back in return for buying your favourite products. I love finding I have points to spend - it's something for nothing and who doesn't love that?! Superdrug also have a beauty card available, as well as Debenhams who offer free delivery as a perk of becoming a member. Another handy earner I have recently joined up to is Quidco. It's free to earn and you basically earn cashback when you're shopping online. It is easy to use, you just have to go to Quidco, check which sites you are using and whether they offer cash back and then access the site through there. They then track your order and you will receive a small amount of cashback. It seems a pretty lengthy process as it takes months for the payment to come through. Also I find it hard to remember to actually track the purchase through Quidco first which means I miss it altogether.

My Boxing Day Bargains

So, how did your Christmas go? I hope Santa bought you some lovely little presents and you ate until you were fit to burst! I know I did, Christmas dinner and two different desserts later, I was stuffed. I've had some lovely little beauty gifts from Santa which in true blogger style I have been out taking photos ready for reviews. It's freezing cold and blowing a gale outside but I've been out to take my pictures as the lighting is so poor in my bedroom. I'm having a lovely lazy day curled up in bed in my Christmas Mickey Mouse onesie watching Mrs Browns Boys. I've spent at least two hours tidying my bedroom for once in my life and now I can actually see the floor! I've been really impressed with the choice of beauty sales this year (I haven't managed to find any nice clothes in the sale apart from one shirt from Glamorous for just £10). The sales started early on Monday and Christmas Eve, so I did treat myself to a mascara on Feel Unique's sale which I'm looking forward to trying out! For some strange reason yesterday I decided to brave the Boxing Day sales and luckily the shops weren't too busy. I had a quick look in New Look and River Island but my main stop was at Boots, where I got this little lot!

 Minnie's Fashion Nail Art Set - £5.00

I love all things Minnie Mouse, so I couldn't leave this on the shelf. I presume it's meant for younger girls but I had to have it anyway, seeing as it was reduced to £5.00. The set looks so gorgeous and I'm glad I found it! The set includes 3 polishes, a nail art pen, nail file and little Minnie stickers to add on. Even the nail polishes are wrapped so beautifully in black and white bows! Sadly, I cant find a link anywhere online, so if you are fancying it, have a look in your local Boots.

Seventeen Complete Collection - £17.50.

I treated myself to a little addition to makeup bag. Or make that a few new additions! This Seventeen Complete Collection set was reduced from £35.00 down to £17.50. I did wonder whether to get it or not but I'm glad I did. The set includes everything you could need for your makeup look (apart from foundation). There's tools such as five makeup brushes, penci sharpener and eyelash curlers. Makeup includes two eyeliner pencils, a gel eyeliner, metallic cream highlighter, primer, mascara, five lipglosses, 12 eye shadows a bronzer and blusher.

Bev Ridge Washbag - £5.00. Link.

I'm new to the Bev Ridge range but I absolutely love it. The gorgeous retro packaging reminds me of Soap and Glory's but for cheaper! I thought this washabg would be suitable for use as a makeup bag and it was reduced from £10.00 down to £5.00. I didn't need much more persuading than that. I love the 'Don't act like you're not impressed', it did make me laugh so I'm glad I found this. I cant find this on Boots website, but I have found it on House of Fraser's website but unfortunately it's not reduced.

Hello Kitty Liberty Tablet Sleeve - £15.00

I've had my eye on this gorgeous sleeve for a good few weeks now. I love anything Hello Kitty, but the full retail price of this was £35.00 and I couldn't justify spending that much on a case for my ipad! This case is actually going to be too large for my ipad itself but I'm going to use it anyway as it's so pretty! I need it too as I'm so clumsy and forever dropping things. It's a sleeve which makes it easy just to pull up and pop your tablet back in. I can't find this on Boots website but I have seen a good few in store, so if you're a Hello Kitty lover like me, keep an eye out for it. It could be reduced even more in the 75% off sales!

So there we have it - my Boots Boxing Day bargains! No more spending, I promise!

Nail Rock: Christmas Jumper Nails

Today's post is just a short one keeping up with the festive theme that is making its way around the blogosphere today, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to show off my gorgeous new Christmas nails - if I cant show them now, when can I?! I recently bought myself a set of Nail Rock 'Christmas Jumper' pre-glued nails. Now, I'm never been one for false nails, I'm happy enough with my usual nail polishes and occasionally venturing out into the world of nail stickers. I found these gorgeous nails on sale for £3.99 in Internacionale, so I thought it was worth a try. I have used Nail Rock stickers before so I did have high hopes for these and luckily they have exceeded my expectations. The patterns are a gorgeous festive design of snowflakes and Christmas Jumper style design in three stunning pastel shades. The pack itself contains 16 nails, which I could have a little moan of why not make it 20, but seeing as its Christmas, I wont be dampening the spirit! I'm pleased to have extra available though in case I lose any along the way (I imagine I will!).

As I mentioned, the nails are pre glued and thankfully for fellow clumsy people such as myself this saves me a lot of hassle. I hadn't really researched into the product, I bought it on a whim so I only realised how they worked when I actually took them from the packet. As simple as it sounds, all I needed to do was to press them firmly down onto my nail, trim a little here and there and ta-dah - instant perfect Christmas nails! I'm really pleased with how easy they were to apply, it only took me a few minutes - the hardest part was trying to get a photo of them! The only negative I have about the product is that is quite hard to work out which nails are for which. 'Use your common sense' I hear you cry, but apart from the thumb nails they are pretty much all the same size. If I could change anything about the pack itself, I would love if they came with a little leaflet of design ideas such as which colours to use and where. I did mention that I'm not one for wearing false nails, so I didn't really expect that I was going to enjoy wearing these, but I've surprised myself! They are really comfy, fit my nails well and they don't leave me with discomfort. Seeing as I have just popped these onto my nails today, I'm afraid I cant comment on the longevity of them but as long as they last me through the big day tomorrow then I'll be happy! I think it's a perfect accessory to your look on Christmas Day and I'm glad I picked them up.

You can buy these for yourself here for £6.99. I'm guessing it's a little late by now, but you could always get ready for next year! Have a great Christmas!

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

There's just two more sleeps left until Santa is squeezing himself down the chimney and leaving pretty little presents for us! Even though it's so close, I still don't feel as Christmassy as I normally would by now! So, to get myself into the festive spirit I thought I'd write a Christmas post about my yearly traditions! How gorgeous is the above photo of Mickey and Minnie at Christmas? I'm so excited for my holiday in Florida in May, I've just paid it off and now need to really start saving my money! I am hoping to get some pictures taken on Christmas Day and put together a post of my day! I'm also looking forward to having a good old nose at everyone else's Christmas and what goodies they received. I'm also thinking of writing a post of what I gave for Christmas as I cant wait to see everyone have their gifts that I bought them. With just two sleeps until the big day, luckily I'm all sorted! I've got all my presents wrapped and ready to go and now I just wait! I love that my family all have time off work for Christmas and we can enjoy the time together. I'm currently enjoying watching Zoella's Vlogmas videos to get myself into the mood.

A Christmas Eve tradition in my house is that we always have a little buffet - well I say little, there's usually enough to feed the 10,000! Usually there's a film on in the background like the Chronicles Of Narnia or the soaps. Another Christmas Eve tradition is that we each open a small present before going to bed. I still live at home, my sister has just moved out so it's my first Christmas in 20 years waking up without her - that will seem quite strange! I always have a stocking on Christmas morning from my mum, usually filled with little treats such as chocolate and a nail varnish and a yearly tradition is a magazine in the stocking. This year I know I'm getting Cosmopolitan as I asked for a subscription as a gift. Christmas breakfast is usually a Bucks Fizz and bacon rolls whilst opening presents. My cat will also be getting himself lost in the wrapping paper and carrier bags for some strange reason! Don't worry he'll be getting a present too! All the family have Christmas lunch together each year and it's always delicious. I usually spend the evening watching the Christmas specials and soaps on TV in my pyjamas and eating lots of treats and having a little look through my presents! On Boxing Day, I visit my Dad and we share presents all over again! After all the celebrations are over, I've then got my 21st birthday to look forward to, just a week after Christmas! Enough of my rambling, have a great Christmas! If you have any Christmassy posts, feel free to leave me the link so I can have a nose!

17 Stay Time Foundation Review

Drumroll please. This is a  review dedicated to a foundation that I have just found out about and am kicking myself for not trying it sooner. I first found out about the foundation after reading Bamboozle Beauty's blog comparing Seventeen 'Stay Time' foundation to Estee Lauder's 'Double Wear'. This caught my eye straight away as I so wanted to get along with Double Wear, but however hard I tried it just wasn't going to happen. It left my skin feeling tight, masked and then my skin broke out (which actually doesn't happen very often). Seeing as the foundation retails at just under £25.00, you can imagine I wasn't too pleased! I'm always on the hunt for the perfect foundation. I thought I had found it with No7's Beautifully Matte, but lately it has started leaving me with dry patches on my forehead and generally leaving my skin tone look uneven after a good few hours use. I always feel conscious of my skin and I would do anything to change that. I look for a full coverage foundation at all times as I prefer to cover up my freckles and  imperfections. Enter Seventeen 'Stay Time' and it appears to be solving my problems. PS - please excuse the poor photo, it's so dark and gloomy!

The foundation itself is full coverage, contains SPF 25 and claims to last up to 25 hours. Not that I'd be leaving my makeup on for 25 hours, mind you! "Its time. Time that your make up had staying power! This full coverage foundation gives a flawless smooth skin finish. That lasts. And lasts. Foundation that stays put for up to 25 hours. Its time. Stay Time." Sounds good, right? Let's get to the most important part of any review. Did it do what it promises? It certainly did and I'm a happy customer. It has a creamy texture and gives a matte and a full coverage look - just what I was looking for. I wont go as far as to say flawless, lets face it, I don't think any foundation can make us flawless! The first time I fully tested out the foundation was when I was up early and applying my makeup at 7am. (That's never any fun but it's even harder when it's pitch black and freezing outside!) I returned home around 1-2pm and it had lasted really well. I noticed some areas of my face, mainly my forehead and chin had faded slightly and here I would have needed a quick touch up, but nothing too major.

Stay Time seems to be perfect for paler skin tones - great for us fellow pales, not so great for anyone who isn't! There are six shades available - Porcelain, Natural, Soft Ivory, Biscuit, Honey and Fair. I chose the shade 'Natural' and I cant be happier with the match. It blends to my skin tone really well and I'm not left looking orange or with a terrible tidemark around my jaw. I guess Seventeen could improve here by making more shades available so more of us can get on board and see what we think. In a nutshell, if you're looking for a full coverage foundation which isn't going to damage your bank account, then look no further. The foundation retails at just £6.49 (Bargain!) and is available from Boots here. The Stay Time range also has a primer available to use under the foundation, which again is a bargain at just £5.49. I haven't actually tried this primer out yet but I will definitely be looking to use it next!

Company Social Special Issue

Can you believe it's just eight days until Christmas?! I'm getting so excited and can't wait to get stuck into my Christmas dinner (Trust me to get excited about the food!) I've practically finished all my shopping now, just got some wrapping to finish and I'm all done. For today's post, I thought I would write about Company magazine. Now, you may well be a regular reader of Company, but I have never even picked it up until last month's issue! I usually stick to the magazines that I know such as Glamour and Cosmopolitan. They always say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover and that's what I did with Company magazine. Don't get me wrong I do love buying new clothes but I assumed that Company would just be filled with pages of fashion that I can't afford  which quite frankly would just bore me! I decided to pick up the magazine for the first time with last months issue. What attracted me? It was a beauty special! I soon found that I really enjoyed the magazine and was surprised at the amount of good quality articles that were available and it simply wasn't just loads of pictures of models!

After enjoying the beauty issue, I was ready and waiting to pick up the 'Social Special' issue - all about vlogging, youtube and blogging! It sounded right up my street so I picked it up. The issue also comes with a duo of nail varnishes. You can choose from two duos, I chose the mint green and dark red (I'm afraid I'm pretty I'm rubbish at describing nail colours!) Being the beauty blogger I am, I put my nail wheels to good use to showcase the pretty colours I had for free! I've currently got the mint green shade on my nails and it's a gorgeously bright colour which really stands out. I did have to apply a good few layers to get to the right consistency that I wanted - usually I only ever just apply one layer! As I mentioned, the issue is based on social media and there are plenty of interviews with top vloggers who share their tips and tricks to success. I found this a great read and I find it so interesting to see where the vloggers came from and how long they have been vlogging etc. I enjoyed reading Zoella's interview, I usually only tend to read her blog but lately I have been enjoying her Vlogmas videos and can't help but feel that she has had such amazing success! Other articles include using social media to bag your dream job, improving your online prescence and one readers journey of social media. Love for love on Bebo anyone? x

Stepping Into The Unknown.

Today's post is a lifestyle post where I am going to have a little ramble on about how life is going for me lately. In a nutshell, without sounding cheesy and annoying, I'm the happiest I've ever been. However, lately I've made a change and it scares me a little bit. I've been in my job now for a year and a half and I have had such a good time. I've learn a lot and my confidence has also grown over time after learning that maybe there is something I am actually good at! Maybe there is a job that I can get settled in and feel comfortable. I've always doubted myself with work and if someone praises me I don't tend to take it too seriously as I always have nagging doubts in the back of mind. It's funny how I always remember the negative comments though!

I've got a new job. I applied for the job in October, got an interview in November and got the job a few days later. When I applied, I thought I wouldn't even have a rejection, I just expected to hear nothing! So imagine how pleased I was just to have reached the interview stage. It was pretty nerve racking as I was sat in front of the panel without even a table to half of my body - I was all on show and there was nowhere to run or hide! (Well I could have, but that's no good is it?!) So then imagine my further excitement when I received a phone call a few days later. They had said they will be contacting every applicant even if unsuccessful, so when the call came in that's what I was expecting. I'm not trying to brag so please don't think I am. What I am trying to say is don't let your doubts and anxieties stop you from going after what you want. Don't let anyone tell you what to with your life. This could be for anything, not just work and uni/college.

This just goes to show that if you want to go after something then please do. Don't be afraid of rejection, it really doesn't matter. When I was unemployed for six months (so boring and soul destroying) rejection after rejection kept coming and eventually I just got used to it and the next 'Unfortunately your application was unsuccessful' letter was just another day. Onto the next job application! It took me three interviews to get into the job I am currently leaving and each time I felt like giving up but I got there in the end. I'm so grateful for the opportunity I had there as there is no way I would have got the new job without the experience. If you're wondering what jobs I'm rambling on about, I'm afraid I'm not a supermodel or an FBI agent! I work in the mental health field of the care sector and have now got a new job as a support worker in a hospital environment (Which was my aim).  So, what happens next? Well I'm waiting to start my new job and I'm apprehensive. I keep asking myself 'What if?' scenarios and its an endless circle. What if they don't like me? What if I don't settle in? What if, what if, I could go on all day but I cant! I can let these doubts stop me from making a change into what I wanted to do. I strongly believe that what is meant for you will be. It doesn't matter if you even don't know what you want to do, in the future just go along with it and enjoy yourself.

My Top Pick of Christmas Advent Competitions.

I love entering competitions, I'm definitely a competition geek! Lately, I have been so busy that I just haven't had the time to fit it in as it is quite time consuming! I wrote a post a while back including tips on how to get lucky when it comes to entering competitions which you may want a quick read of before you get stuck in! You can read the post here. When I do get the spare time and I'm not blogging or reading blogs, I love fitting in a few competitions here and there; there's so many to choose from though! A 'compers' (a term for a fanatic completion lover!) favourite  time of year will always be Christmas. That's because at Christmas, loads more competitions come crawling from the woodworks as it's the advent season. More and more companies seem to have jumped on the Advent competition bandwagon over the past few years, meaning the perfect chance for us to win even more! I particularly love entering at this time of year in the hope of winning extra presents I can give out for Christmas (or keep for myself of course!). Of course, there's no guarantee so I always get my gifts bought ready and anything that I may be lucky enough to win can be gifted on! It's a great way to save money. So without further ado, have a little look at these Advent Competitions. I think the easiest way is to simply link you straight to the competitions, so you don't have to spend ages searching for the actual competition page! As you can imagine, I may be here all day posting all the competitions out there so I've just picked out the best beauty and fashion ones!

(Hover over the baubles)

I hope you enjoyed my slightly different post today! Get yourself entering, it won't take too long and it will be worth it if you win! x

Area H20 Healthy Hair Challenge

I first found out about the AreaH20 challenge* on Twitter. AreaH20 were looking for bloggers to participate in a challenge, test out their new products for 14 days and report back the results - simple! Before this, I hadn't heard of AreaH20 as a brand before and once I'd read up a little information of their background, I knew it was a challenge that I wanted to get involved in. (Thank you to Immediate PR!) This is also my first ever 'selfie' that I've popped onto my blog and lets just say it scares me. If you're reading it and its still there then I've done very well! The picture is part of the challenge to show the results of the products. Please excuse those annoying gaps between the photos, I don't know to fix that!

If you're wondering what on earth I am babbling on about, allow me to explain. AreaH20 have come with a brilliant concept for their new brand of shampoos and conditioners. Where you live in the UK can have a direct impact on the condition of your hair due to the use of hard water or soft water. Now, I vaguely remember learning about hard and soft water in school years ago and I couldn't have cared less, but considering they're offering to make my hair stronger and shinier, my ears pricked up! The different types of water can affect your hair in different ways, so the shampoos and conditioners have been designed specifically for your areas water type. All I had to do was have a little look on a map of the UK to find out which water type I was using. For reference, mine was a soft water. The duos of shampoo and conditioners are available for hard, medium and soft water meaning that you're getting exactly what's right for you.

"Metal ions, present in all types of water, react with shampoo to form mineral deposits that cling to your hair. AreaH20 shampoo is designed to act as a magnet, attracting mineral ions and allowing you to wash them away far more easily. This means your hair will feel noticeably cleaner, smoother, shinier and less flyway."

Before I even began using the products, I admit I was apprehensive. I'm always slightly frightened (sounds silly doesn't it?!) of using new shampoos as I cant stand using a shampoo that doesn't agree with my hair. My hair is getting quite long now and does take a while to wash and blow dry, so I do get annoyed when I try out a new shampoo and it makes me look like I didn't even bother to wash my hair! Thankfully, this wasn't the case here and that's my honest opinion. The shampoo is a clear formula and I was glad I read up a little information before using it. When you first use the shampoo, it makes your hair feel quite tangled. I'm so glad I read the information before though, as I would have stopped using it straight away! The tangled feeling is all part of the science of the shampoo and is nothing to worry about. In a nutshell, it means you don't get the usual Herbal essences advert moment (You know the one?!) where you hair will feel super foamy and squeaky clean, but it doesn't matter. I did also have my doubts about the conditioner as I am so fussy with what conditioners I use on the ends of my hair as I torture it with so much heat (sorry hair!) So, let's get to the most important bit - did it work for me? A big massive yes from me, I am really impressed. After 14 days of use, I can honestly say that the condition of my hair has improved. I can notice this mainly by the fact that my hair is much cleaner and I'm now able to go the next day without washing my hair which usually never happens! My mum also commented just yesterday that my hair is looking thicker than normal, so there's another bonus! The conditioner works well on my hair leaving the ends soft and smooth. AreaH20 get a big thumbs up from me and I would definitely recommend it to you!

The shampoos and conditioners retail for around £9.95 each or you can buy a duo pack for £17.50. You can purchase with free delivery from Look Fantastic here and AreaH20 is also currently sold in Debenhams, Oxford Street.

Miss Selfridge Embellished Iphone Case

For today's post, I wanted to show you my brand spanking new phone case. Now, I'm not usually one for phone/tablet cases, I'm so clumsy that I usually drop and smash things everywhere, so I don't try and fool myself that I'm looking after my gadgets! However, recently Miss Selfridge had an up to 30% off everything sale, so I was onto the website as fast as possible and was drawn to the gifts section. Don't get me wrong, I love the clothes that Miss Selfridge sell, they're gorgeous, but when the reduced price is the same as I could get for a full priced item somewhere cheaper, I don't tend to buy from there! So, I had a good nose in the gifts section and came across this amazing iPhone case. I know, I know, the world and his wife have got an iPhone, haven't they?! I was just as happy with my little pink blackberry until my boyfriend had a new iPhone and I got this one for free - yay!

I read in a magazine today that apparently you can tell a lot about a girl by their phone case - so if we're looking at this, then that means I'm super glam and glitzy. Whereas, I'm typing this in my Disney dressing gown, I'm thinking not so much glitz and glam, more comfort and warmth! Anyway, on to the case itself. As you can see, its pretty damn gorgeous. I did wonder if it was slightly too OTT, but I knew straight away that it was for me. The case is covered in silver diamantes (What do you mean they're not real?) with an unmissable 3D silver bow. It makes such a difference to my phone, it looks stunning! I wouldn't normally get so excited over something as small as a phone case but this is way too gorgeous to ignore! With such gorgeousness comes with two negatives. The first negative is the 3D bow does weigh the phone down a heck of a lot and makes it a lot heavier than the usual lighter feel that the phone gives. I'm getting used to this already and its not a problem for me, but I think it may be irritating to some! Secondly, it was pretty pricey! I don't know what came over to me to splash out so much on a phone case, but I don't think you'll blame me, will you?!

The case retails at £22.00. It's currently reduced down to £19.80 and is available for both iPhone 4 and 5. You can find the embellished case here. No worries if you're not an Apple fan, there's plenty more to choose from - there are gorgeous makeup bags, kindle cases and headphones. These would make a perfect gift if you're looking for someone who loves a bit of added glamour in their life.

'17' Beauty Buys

Today's post is just a little one to show you my latest beauty buys. I'm feeling pretty proud of myself as I have been so tempted lately to splash out on a high end mascara (YSL Shocking, I'm looking at you!) but I'm really trying to cut back on my spending lately. So, instead of spending around £20 on a mascara I haven't even tried before, I ended up spending £10.28 (to be precise) on three new '17' products instead! The tile of this post made me think of a total of 17 new beauty products, but I'm afraid that's not the case!

Boots are currently running an offer on 17 products. If you spend £8.00 on anything you like within the range, you can receive a free limited edition 'Brow's That!' brow kit worth £6.00. I'm currently using Benefit's Brow Zings, but quickly running low on the wax that is included, so when I spotted this offer I thought it would be the perfect chance for me to try out a cheaper product and hopefully the result will be just as good! As the kit is limited edition, I'm glad I saw it in time before it disappears! So, the next challenge was for me to spend £8.00 on makeup - now that was a tough decision! I'm sure we're all the same, we look at the counters and think 'I want that one, that one, oh and that one too' but sadly all the products can't be magically zapped to your bedroom (Oh, how I wish they would!). As I mentioned, I was on the hunt for a new mascara. When I look for a mascara, I want volume and thickness, I can't bear splashing out on mascaras which do absolutely nothing for me at all, it's so frustrating to have wasted money on them! I loved that on the 17 stand, they had the mascaras showcasing which brushes each mascara had - this was a great way to help me choose which one I wanted! I went for 'Blow Out' mascara - in Blackest Black shade and I think it looks and sounds pretty good! It's a pretty thick looking brush, offering 12x more volume and includes conditioning argan oils. I'm yet to try this out as being a good blogger, I wanted to photograph it first! I've got high hopes for it though after reading through reviews on Boots website, it's got pretty much a 5/5 from everyone! The mascara cost £6.29, so that left me with just one more product to choose!

I currently use No7's Beautifully Matte foundation and have lately been wondering what powder I should get. I haven't used powder for a long while, I think I just fell out of the habit of doing so. I find it hard to know which powder will work best for me, so I usually just avoid picking one out! You may have guessed by now that I like the matte look when it comes to my makeup, so it didn't take me long to snap up 'Miracle Matte' pressed powder for a bargain £3.99. I chose the shade 'Natural Fair' and I'm really impressed with it so far! You can of course expect full reviews of the three products once I have got my paws on them and formed some opinions! I'm really pleased with my three products for just over a tenner!

Have you tried 17 makeup? x

Guest Post: Stylingo's '8 Things To Add To Your Christmas List!'

Today, I have a guest post for you written by the lovely Claire at Stylingo blog. Stylingo is a gorgeous fashion and beauty blog written by Claire and Lauren. Their posts are a mixture of fashion and beauty - these girls have got serious style! Thank you ladies for your guest post....

Hi there chicos, chicas and chickens. I really hope I’m not alone in this  - though I fear I probably am - but I’m COMPLETELY unprepared for Christmas this year. Not only in the sense that I have no idea what to buy my nearest and dearest (do dads like Topshop gift cards?) but I’ve also been stumped when family members have asked me what I’d like. I therefore went on a very serious mission last night and scoured the web for things I’m firmly putting on my Christmas list.

 1.      I’m in love with all things fluffy at the moment so first up is this gorgeous animal print jumper from Topshop - of course the animal print gives it extra levels of delightfulness.

2.      Perfume is one of those things I only ever get for birthdays or Christmas so it’s also the perfect chance to replace my diminishing bottle of Black XS, which can be picked up from Fragrance Direct.

3.      Benefit’s not a brand I usually splash out on for myself, so if I can persuade some fool kind family member to buy me this set from Boots, then I would be giddier than a really giddy Gideon. It contains a few of their iconic products including They’re Real mascara, POREfessional primer, High Beam highlighter and the Hoola bronzer.

4.      My obsession with statement rings is never ending, and this rose quartz beauty from Now Seen.com is my favourite one around at the moment.

1.      I have my hair waved a lot but usually use my straighteners; this huuuuuuuge Enrapture Jumbo Waver could do it for me in just a few simple clamps. Think of all the extra time that would leave me to sleep. Miracle.

2.      I love my Converse and this leopard print pair from Office would be the perfect addition to my collection (which currently consists of, er, two pairs. Okay, so it’s not quite a collection).

3.      Primark recently started selling a couple of satchels, but none have been as pretty as the ones available from Zatchels.

4.      Finally, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a Lush gift set. This Uplifted box contains loads of Lush favourites including Happy Hippy shower gel, Ocean Salt facial scrub and Whoosh shower jelly.
Hope you enjoyed the Christmas themed guest post and don't forget to check out the girls' blog here! x
