Sometimes our lives get so busy, hectic and stressful that you can end up forgetting about who the most important person in your life really is - you. Of course you're surrounded by loved ones who are important to you, but you should try not to forget that when it comes down to it - you're number one. I'm not saying that it's okay to be selfish and to not try and make others happy but if it would make you happier to miss a social event or saying no that overtime shift at work now and again and spend your night in a hot bubble bath instead - well, that's not so bad is it? You know when someone says goodbye to you and says 'take care' - do you ever really catch those words? I've put together ways I like to relax if I feel overwhelmed or stressed and I hope this post can help if you ever find yourself feeling the same way. I've also added in the picture below which I found on Pinterest - it sums up what I'm trying to say perfectly.
'No' is seen as a negative word. 'No you can't have another biscuit', 'No, I can't afford it' - but you can make using the 'No' word advantageous to you. I think that sometimes you need confidence within yourself to be able to say very politely 'No, sorry I've got something on' - when your boss is asking you to do yet another overtime shift when you're shattered and just want to catch up on TV programmes. Of course you can't say no every time work needs your help but just remember that you have a life outside of it too.
We've heard it before - it's so important to take time out of your week and enjoy some well deserved me time. Don't feel guilty for enjoying it, it doesn't matter if you're reading a book, doing some crafts or spending hours watching Netflix - make sure you set aside the time to enjoy your own company and never feel guilty for it.
Exercise, eat right but treat yourself.
You know the old saying - an apple a day keeps the doctor away - and I'm sure there's plenty of truth to it! Exercising to me always seems like a chore but I do make time for it now and again even if it's just a walk as it does make me feel more positive. I think walking is my favourite to get out in the fresh air and not get too hot and sweaty. Despite us needing to eat healthily when we can, it's also so important to treat ourselves - and again don't feel guilty about it. My guilty pleasures? Red Velvet Cake, fry ups and takeaways.
What's your favourite way to look after yourself? x
