Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom Colouring Book.

I've always loved colouring. No matter how old I am, I think I'll always enjoy colouring. Over the past few years, I've coloured in mosaic patterns but I never really found anything that was intricate enough for me to really focus on and get lost in - until now. Millie Marotta is an amazing illustrator who turned her art into a colouring book for adults. 'Animal Kingdom' is her first colouring book and is soon releasing 'Tropical Kingdom'. Animal Kingdom is a Sunday Times bestseller and it seems that colouring in for grown ups has well and truly kicked off. Inside the book, you'll find so many different illustrations to choose from such as birds, whales, giraffes and so much more.

Each page has such intricate detail, meaning I can get lost and focus on the image for a few hours and it's the perfect relaxation. I've never liked using colouring pencils, I've always enjoyed using pens more, so I did a little research and found the best pens to use with the paper. I'm using the Staedtler Triplus Fineliner pens which I picked up in WHSmith. The fineliner pens are 0.3mm, meaning they are perfect for colouring in tight spaces and also the pens aren't thick enough to seep through the opposite page. The book retails at £9.95, which I feel is really affordable as there are hours of relaxation to be had. There's also lots of other colouring books to choose from, which I'm going to focus on in a new post!

  2. oh my, that looks beautiful! I need that kind of skill :) I bought a coloring book as a therapeutic way to calm down when I'm feeling overwhelmed. I have crayons, but now I'm wondering whether I should get colored pencils :)

  3. I've seen this floating around a few other blogs and it looks like so much fun to do! I tried to persuade my mum to buy one because she loves this kind of stuff but I think she was a bit put off by the price! Uh oh! So on the hunt for some cheaper (but equally as beautiful) ones!

  9. I love colouring in and I've made a note of those felt tip pens as I've been on the look out for ones with as thin a tip as possible for colouring in intricate detail x
